Learn how to use the standard decision modeling language - Decision Model and Notation (DMN) - to graphically define decision requirements so that decision making can be modeled separately from business processes and effectively automated.
The Decision Model and Notation (DMN) is the Object Management Group’s standard for decision modeling. It is an easy-to-use notation system that represents complex decision-making. It provides a graphical notation for specifying decisions so that decision-making can be modeled separately from business processes.
Often there is a communication gap between business process design and business rules implementation and between technical developers responsible for implementing business rules or analytic models and business managers who monitor and manage decision-making. DMN is a common language that bridges this gap and is readily understandable by all stakeholders. It is designed to work with Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN), resulting in a simpler and more manageable business process. DMN also maps the graphical notation to business rules management systems (BRMS) and machine learning (ML) environments.
In this course, you’ll get a strong foundation in DMN, beginning with a definition of DMN and the principles behind its design. You’ll learn about the elements required for modeling decision requirements and the steps involved in building decision requirements diagrams. You will also be introduced to the elements of DMN required for specifying decision logic. Bring your laptop to perform hands-on exercises using a cloud-based DMN modeling tool.
Attendees will learn a structured approach to using DMN. Your knowledge is enhanced by using a cloud-based software tool for hands-on practice.
