It is unfortunate but most companies find themselves always trying to catch up with technology advancements. Like many others they are burdened by a significant investment in legacy systems (and the infrastructure to support them) and find it increasingly more difficult to justify funding to advance or modernize their world. With a few exceptions technologies that can have a truly profound impact on the competitive capabilities of the company are well into their life cycle before this value is recognized and adopted.
Rick Sweeney is an independent consultant specializing in the Enterprise Architecture (EA) and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) practices. Mr. Sweeney’s previous position was Chief Architect at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. Rick was also employed at Wang Laboratories Inc and has taught several technology courses for the Continuing Education Program at UMASS Lowell.
