Process Improvement and Redesign Using Six Sigma

Offering Duration:  Ninety days

Offering Description:
Provide training and facilitation services to develop process management and six sigma skills for the organization. This methodology will entail developing customized training package for key staff members in process improvement methodology and work with them to determine the process improvements through facilitation. This methodology will provide your staff with tools and skills required to make continuous improvements after our facilitation has ended. The skills required for process improvement will be transferred to your organization, minimizing the need for ongoing consulting services.

Offering Outline:

  • Module 1 - Train core team - 1 day session
    1. Overview Business Process Management
    2. Fundamentals of Six Sigma
    3. Six Sigma / Process Improvement Tools - Define & Measure
    4. Assignment – identify a potential project, team, scope, data, etc.
    5. Initiate project(s) to be done over the next 3 to 4 weeks, completed prior Module 2
  • Module 2 - Train core team - 2 day session (approximately 30 days after module 1)
    1. Workshop with teams to review assignments
    2. Six sigma / Process Improvement Tools – Analyze, Improve, Control
    3. Applying statistical or simulation tools as required
    4. Workshop to develop next steps in projects
    5. Assignment – continue project wor
  • Continued Facilitation/Mentoring – 
    • Virtual or On site for 1 day per week until the final project reviews
  • Final Project Reviews (Approximately 30 days after module 2)
  • A Final audit - approximately 30 days after completion of the implementation project to ensure that results are meeting the targets set.
  • Final audit of results 90 days after implementation is complete. Ensure that the control phase has been properly implemented.

  • Understanding of Business process Management
  • Understanding of Six Sigma methodology
    • Use of basic tools
    • Experience following the methodology
    • Successful completion of a six sigma project

Instructor Biography:
Marvin Wurtzel is the Principal Consultant of Marvin M. Wurtzel & Associates, Inc., a consulting and training firm that specializes in quality, process and productivity improvement. Marvin has extensive management experience at leading companies in financial services, information technology, electronic manufacturing, and consumer products. He has implemented Six Sigma and Process Management strategies resulting in, cost reduction, as well as, customer satisfaction, productivity, quality and cycle time improvements. He is a Fellow of the American Society for Quality, a three time Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) Examiner and a Master Black Belt.
