    About the Reports

The BPMS Report series is objective research, and provides information in depth, not just a simple checklist. The information is not based on a vendor-filled questionnaire, but gathered from product documentation, detailed technical briefings, and in some cases hands-on evaluation. It drills down beneath what is available from the vendor website and white papers to provide BPMS buyers a clear sense of what each product does well, and what it takes to do it.

BPMInstitute.org in conjunction with Bruce Silver Associates is pleased to offer The BPMS Report series, available for free to BPM Institute members. These reports, written by Dr Bruce Silver, a leading independent BPM analyst, provide detailed evaluations of today’s leading Business Process Management Suites. Each 30-40 page report covers a single product in depth, loaded with diagrams and screenshots.

The report series provides something long missing in BPM research: apples-to-apples product comparison geared to the needs of BPM buyers. All reports follow the same evaluation methodology and outline:

    1. Vendor and Product Overview
    2. Environment and Architecture
    3. Process Structure and Data
    4. Process Modeling and Design
    5. Human Workflow
    6. User Experience and Task Management
    7. Integration Framework
    8. Business Rules
    9. Content, Collaboration, and Case Management
    10. Events and Exceptions
    11. Performance Management
    12. Solutions and Services

The reports are written and owned by Bruce Silver Associates, and distributed exclusively by BPM Institute. Bruce Silver is an independent industry analyst specializing in BPM technology. He writes the "BPMS Watch" column on BPMInstitute.org, and a blog of the same name at www.brsilver.com/wordpress. He is also BPMS track chair at the BrainStorm BPM Conference series, and provides training on Process Modeling with BPMN through the BPMInstitute.
